In 2004, Maribel Martinez joined the Cornelius Police Department as a Receptionist. Maribel is responsible for greeting visitors, answering non-emergency calls, data entry, and translations for Latino residents. Maribel was born in Cali, Colombia in South America and came to live in the United States in 1988. While in Colombia, she completed high school and attended Vocational
School at the same time. Maribel obtained an Assistant Electric Maintenance Diploma and a General Secretary Diploma. When Maribel came to the United States she took ESL (English as Second Language) classes and obtained an Adult High School Diploma from Parsippany Adult High School in NJ. Maribel moved to North Carolina in 1997 and obtained a Computers Upgrade and Repair Certification from Mitchell Community College in addition to a certificate in Income Tax Preparation from H&R Block. In her spare time, she can be found with her children on the soccer field, working with computers, and helping the Latino community in Statesville with translations, phone calls, and income tax preparation. Maribel is a wonderful asset to the Cornelius Police Department and we appreciate her service to the community. |
